Klynn Scales did not have a very happy childhood. She grew up in a home
filled with drugs and violence. There were many days where she resorted to
stealing food from the nearby 7-Eleven just to keep her two brothers fed.
When Klynn was 9, she met a police officer who must’ve known things were
tough. He would stop by her house every day, and Klynn would greet him with a
smile and wave before running up to him.
Though Klynn didn’t know the name of the kind cop, over time she felt he
was the only person she could trust.
But one day, the officer noticed Klynn wasn’t in her usual spot. She wasn’t
there to wave to him, and she didn’t come running to greet him. Something told
him he had to walk inside her house.
The officer was stunned to open the front door and find the little girl
sick — with no one there to take care of her. He rushed her to the hospital
where she was treated for malnutrition.
Klynn eventually lost contact with the officer and moved to a different
city for a better life.
Then, years later, Sgt. Jeff Colvin received an email about a little girl
who used to live by the police station…
